What LDR is, what's included, the workspaces, the strategy creation process, and the available portfolios. The complete reference — open any section below.
LDR is built on a less-complex trading logic than Ranger or Cross — accessible, focused, genuinely profitable. The methodology has institutional pedigree dating to the 1990s Daiwa Securities consulting engagement. The modern release was built for the Trade View 2020 Algo Trading Conference in Melbourne; Trade View has invited Bob back for their 2026 conference, where the upgraded LDR will be released. Every LDR strategy is validated through Excalibur, our proprietary research process. For the marketing overview, see Discover LDR.
LDR is a sophisticated, customizable EasyLanguage trading strategy that runs in TradeStation. It uses a wide variety of moving averages in a unique way — and despite the "old hat" reputation moving-average strategies sometimes carry, LDR has been genuinely profitable for the traders who run it.
The methodology has institutional pedigree dating to the 1990s, when Bob developed an earlier-generation Long Distance Runner for the Daiwa Securities consulting engagement. He returned to it in 2020 when Trade View invited him to speak at the Algo Trading Conference in Melbourne and asked for a strategy that could be put in the hands of the attendees. The package built for that audience became the foundation of LDR as it exists today. Trade View has invited Bob back for their 2026 conference — where the upgraded LDR will be released and presented again.
LDR uses six different moving-average types and two related variations to produce a meaningful family of uncorrelated trading strategies. It's easy to use and can create a portfolio of strategies on different markets relatively quickly. It is built on a less-complex trading logic than Ranger or Cross — and that is by design. Fewer pathways to navigate. Easier to learn. Easier to master. Easier to put to work — without sacrificing the rigor that makes a strategy actually robust.
Two add-on portfolios extend LDR for specific markets: LDR Alpha (12 strategies across six markets) and LDR Bitcoin (six strategies on Bitcoin futures). LDR Bitcoin in particular made a fortune for clients during the run-up.
LDR is the core application. Two add-on strategy portfolios extend it: LDR Alpha and LDR Bitcoin. The full LDR Bundle pairs everything together at a meaningful discount.
Every LDR license is a complete package — software, documentation, methodology, and direct access to Bob. Here's what's included:
The LDR Manual is 44 pages of detailed reference. It explains every feature of LDR, walks through the trading logic, and explores each of the six included moving-average types.
For anyone who wants to truly understand LDR rather than just operate it, the manual is essential reading. It's also the reference document you'll come back to as you build out your own strategy library.
Creating Strategies with LDR is a 10-page step-by-step guide that walks you through everything you need to do to build your own strategies with LDR. It is modeled directly after the methods Bob uses to create the LDR strategies that ship with the product — and the strategies inside LDR Alpha and LDR Bitcoin.
LDR includes ten ready-to-run TradeStation workspaces, organized around the two research process types described in the Creating Strategies guide. Each workspace has values for the LDR constants and optimization ranges pre-filled — they are ready to use as-is, or easily adapted to the market and timeframe of your choice.
The workspaces ship configured for Soybeans, but switching them to any other market and timeframe is straightforward — change the symbol, adjust the timeframe, and the optimization ranges and parameters carry over cleanly. These are the same workspaces used to create the LDR Alpha and LDR Bitcoin strategies.
Setting up a TradeStation environment for serious optimization work is itself a meaningful investment of time. The LDR workspaces eliminate that step entirely — you inherit a tested, working configuration the moment you install LDR.
LDR includes a complete worked example of the research process — a benchmark you can use to gauge what good output looks like, and a reference you can compare your own work against.
This is not abstract instruction — it's a real, complete worked example. You can see exactly what success looks like at every step of the process, then run your own strategies through the same workflow and compare.
Two live LDR-built strategy portfolios are available — each a complete, validated set of strategies for specific markets. Full performance details, equity curves, and methodology live on the dedicated portfolio pages.
Both portfolios will be moving to refreshed, redesigned pages in the Trade section of the website. The current pages remain live with full performance detail in the meantime.
Whether you're evaluating LDR for the first time or returning to put what you've learned to work, the buy page is one click away. Or write directly — I read every inquiry myself.
